About us

A well-established charity that helps ex-offenders and disadvantaged people to move their lives forward, St. Giles Trust offers support to help people overcome any issues that might be holding them back and to prevent the likelihood of them re-offending on release.

Often, this is provided by the people who know best how to help – those who have been there themselves, and we provide training and placement opportunities for ex-offenders. Our Peer Advisors equip them with the skills and knowledge to deliver services to their peers.

About this key role

St Giles Trust has just been awarded funding from the Big Lottery to train mentors and volunteers on the Working Out Project and our successful candidate will play an integral part of the team that will be setting up this new project. This will see you promote and market the opportunity to identify, engage and recruit learners with the relevant skills and motivation, plus organise and deliver advice and guidance-related training courses.

You will work closely with new recruits to produce realistic individual learning plans, while also supporting learners to secure voluntary placements and carry them out successfully. Making referrals to other services to improve clients’ employability and the chances of them securing employment is a vital part of this role, as is carrying out regular reviews, exit interviews and evaluations with learners and other stakeholders.

To secure this exciting opportunity, you must have:

  • A relevant Assessors qualification, or be working towards this
  • A Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent teaching qualification, plus a Level 3 Award in Advice and Guidance or equivalent experience in the field
  • A proven track record in supporting clients into employment and achieving employment targets
  • Experience of delivering creative training to disadvantaged learners
  • Strong IT, organisational and time-management skills
  • Calm, flexible and adaptable, you must be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written
  • Sympathy with the aims and ethos of St Giles as an organisation
