Through the Gates Caseworker - Leeds (Ref: TGY-171)

Location: HMP Wealstun with travel to our Leeds office and within the Community

Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 31 July 2018

Hours: 17.5 hrs p/w

Salary: £19,847 - £23,350 (pro rata £9,923 – £11,675) P/A (depending on experience)

Working in our Through the Gates Project, funded by the MoJ Grant scheme; we are looking for a male caseworker who will be working in HMP Wealstun, with frequent travel to our Leeds office as well as working within the Community and will be providing an intensive support service to Muslim Prisoners both sides of the gate.


The successful candidate will engage and support clients, mainly from the Islamic faith communities. The service will include engagement with custody based clients while they are still serving their prison sentences and with families in the community.


Duties will vary and range from supporting prisoners to engaging with purposeful activities both in custody and on release, promoting positive engagement with their local community on release and assisting to sustain suitable accommodation and ETE. Will be required to work flexibly, filling potential gaps, meeting and supporting clients with a service tailored to their individual needs and circumstances.


We require applicants with proven ability to engage individuals from the Muslim community, a flexible working approach and strong commitment to helping socially excluded people. You will need to be highly organised and able to work on your own initiative.
